Advanced QiSS Registered Centres and QiSS recognition meetings
Advanced PfS centres and schools are taking a lead in disseminating their leading practice in Study Support within and beyond their regions and many are supporting other centres and schools in all aspects of the recognition process.
In recognition of the increasing role that Advanced centres and schools are taking in supporting and challenging others, during this year RHA and QiSS will be providing support and some funding to enable Advanced centres and schools to further develop their work.
This will include identifying and nominating six PfS Advanced QiSS centres as registered centres in six of the nine Government Office regions to organise and host recognition and other QiSS related meetings, initially to meet the needs of PfS centres, with a view to further development, which could include schools and other Study Support contexts such as Children’s and Summer Universities.
The following centres have been successfully identified as QiSS Registered Centres to lead the QiSS process in the first two phases of the development.
Phase 1
Batley Bulldogs Yorks
West Bromwich Albion West Midlands
West Ham London
Phase 2
Bolton Wanderers NW
Nottingham Forest EM
Norwich City East
Dates for all recognition meetings will be posted on the QiSS website www.canterbury.ac.uk/education/departments/professional-development/centres/quality-in-study-support/recognition/key-dates and in the RHA Newsletters
In addition to the six PfS Advanced QiSS registered centres up to nine schools will be identified by QiSS to lead dissemination activities across each of the regions. Support for the QiSS process will form part of a menu of activities that will be organised by them working with other Advanced centres in each region. Some funding will be available to all support centres involved in dissemination activities and this will include PfS Advanced QiSS centres.
All centres working towards Advanced level through the QiSS process will continue to be supported by two QiSS nationally organised days. In addition, all Advanced QiSS centres and schools will be given opportunity to participate in two national days to share practice and continue to push the boundaries of Advanced practice in Study Support and wider extended services.
The response from PfS Advanced QiSS centres has been tremendous and RHA/QiSS will be looking very carefully at other ways of supporting all Advanced centres to disseminate their leading practice over the next few months as part of the development of regional hubs of excellence in Study Support.
