The Role of the Advanced Centre
It is a feature of Advanced practice in PfS centres, schools and other organisations, that they support other schools and centres in their development and with the various aspects of the QiSS process. In addition, Advanced centres are increasingly acting as hubs of leading-edge practice within their local authorities, their regions and nationally.
In recognition of this RHA and QiSS provide funding and professional development opportunities to help Advanced PfS centres to further develop this work, supporting and challenging others, leading on developing quality, hosting workshops and organising QiSS recognition meetings. Further support through the DCSF funded Quality Development Programme provides opportunities for Advanced PfS centres and schools to showcase and disseminate their work regionally.
Eight QiSS registered PfS centres have been identified and are regularly organising and hosting recognition meetings and supporting other schools and centres. The current registered centres are:
Batley Bulldogs – Yorkshire and the Humber
Bolton Wanderers – North West
West Bromwich Albion - West Midlands
Nottingham Forest - East Midlands
West Ham – London
Norwich City – East
Portsmouth FC – South East
Crystal Palace - London
Dates for all recognition meetings are posted on the RHA MDA area and QiSS website
As part of the 2009 – 2010 DCSF contract with QiSS, all schools and centres working towards Advanced status will continue to be supported by nationally organised days and regional networks. Ongoing support is being provided to Advanced centres and schools to disseminate practice and continue to push the boundaries of Advanced practice. It is our intention to further develop the work of all Advanced centres towards becoming regional ‘hubs of excellence’ to support self-evaluation and quality assurance across PfS centres and other study support settings.
