REX HALL ASSOCIATES moving forward with Playing for Success

In line with other government departments, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) is committed to focusing on policy/strategic issues and to moving away from traditional direct operational tasks. As part of this process the DCSF has appointed Rex Hall Associates (RHA) to deliver Playing for Success (PfS) nationally; the DCSF will continue to maintain its strategic lead role.
Based on its successful record of delivering PfS with all its partners, RHA is committed to build on current practice and to continue to develop the programme.

RHA is committed to:
- sustaining current provision
- improving the quality of the provision and increasing its impact
- expanding the number of local authorities (LAs)
and schools with access to programmes modelled on PfS
- promoting innovation, development and expansion
to other settings |
RHA will continue to work with its sporting partners and key stakeholders, including centre managers and their staff, and LAs to explore innovative strategies to extend the PfS approach; this will include applying the PfS model in wider contextual settings that will attract and engage young people, and the expansion of the daytime offer.
RHA’s team of Associates will continue to provide support and challenge through critical friendship and will publish a yearbook and other publications as well as convening an annual national conference.
Rex Hall, as the Executive Associate of RHA, is supported by an experienced team of Associates some of whom, as Lead Associates, have specific areas of responsibility.
A full time PfS administration base has been established in the West Midlands. This is the main point of contact for information about all aspects of the scheme and all initial contacts and enquiries should be made through this office. The administrative base will store centres’ publications, documents and records and in this way will be able to provide a substantial resource of best practice. A PfS dedicated website is being developed.
RHA with all its partners will develop a range of programmes to sustain, improve, expand and promote PfS. These will include a new professional development programme, mentoring in PfS and marketing strategies for PfS centres both locally and nationally.
